LBS2025 Format Changes

We want to thank all of you for your overwhelming supportive regarding the necessary format changes for the 2025 Lil’ Big South Event.  We appreciate each of you taking the time to speak with us on the phone so we could thoroughly explain the conflict with the College Football National Championship game and how that would negatively affect us all on the last day of competition.

This email confirms the following format changes will be made in order to keep the teams, their parents and coaches, our staff and officials removed from the downtown Atlanta congestion and closures that will be inevitable on Monday January 20th:

All Open and Power Divisions will begin play on Friday January 17th at 6:30p.

  • Teams will play two matches, pool size permitting, during this first round of play.

  • On Saturday, teams will be scheduled in an afternoon wave of pool play for an additional 3 matches

  • On Sunday, teams in advance into bracket play and be guaranteed an additional two matches.

  • For some teams, Sunday’s bracket play may go late into the afternoon or even the evening to accommodate all divisions.

  • The adjusted format guarantees 7 matches over 2.5 days of competition.

  • Open and Power teams will NOT receive an entry fee rebate.

  • We will still have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each of these divisions.

All Club Divisions will begin pool play on Saturday January 18th, and play 3 matches during a morning wave.

  • On Sunday, teams will enter Bracket Play and will be guaranteed 2 more matches.

  • For some teams, Sunday’s bracket play may go late into the afternoon or even the evening to accommodate all divisions.

  • This adjusted format guarantees 5 matches for Club teams over 2 days of competition.

  • Club teams WILL receive a $145/team rebate towards their entry fee.

  • We will still have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes in each of these divisions.

All Local Divisions will begin play on Saturday January 18th, in a morning wave as normally scheduled and will NOT have any adjustments made to their planned schedule and normal tournament format Teams will play 4-5 matches over the 2 days of competition.

PROCESS TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO HOTEL RESERVATIONS...

Please note:  Consider changes you may think you need, knowing Sunday’s bracket play may go late into the afternoon/evening. We have been told that if you still plan to leave the city on Monday morning, you should not have an issue getting out of town other than normal business traffic

A list of teams potentially affected by the format change has been sent to THS.  In order to avoid being caught in a phone queue due to this weeks' expected reservation traffic, THS will be reaching out to each of you via email (or the contact for the reservation) with directions on how to process any necessary changes. please be on the lookout for this email and respond promptly so we can help you along the way.

Lastly, we are asking that you reply to this email with a “We are Still all In” if you know now there will be no change to your team entries.  This would help us continue the planning for staff, number of courts, as well as the number of officials we need to secure for this event. In contrast, if you know one or more of your teams can longer attend, please respond promptly so that change can be made as well.

Directors: we know that parents are the majority bookers when it comes to your team's hotel needs. Please make sure to make them aware of the format changes so when they receive the email from THS they know how to move forward with any booking changes.

Once again thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
